Welcome to the International Federation for Biblio/Poetry Therapy
Hello and welcome to this site of the International Federation for Biblio/Poetry Therapy. The past few months have seen a surge in inquiries regarding our work, and several people have been welcomed as trainees to the personalized Independent Guided Study Program with a Mentor/Supervisor of their choice.
We’re looking forward with eagerness to the National Association for Poetry Therapy’s annual conference, to be held this April in Kansas City. You are warmly invited to attend and experience the Federation’s Triple Workshop (a 3-session experience in peer poetry therapy which counts toward training hours), as well as many opportunities to learn how biblio/poetry therapy is healing our complex world.
Your questions are always welcome. We look forward to connecting with you and your poetic heart.
For over 30 years, the Federation has set the standard for professional practice in poetry therapy by ensuring that our independent trainers (Mentors/Supervisors) adhere to the highest ethical guidelines for service with integrity, and that those who hold the CPT (Certified Poetry Therapy), PTR (Registered Poetry Therapist), or CAPF (Certified Applied Poetry Facilitator) understand the history, theory and practical applications of this powerful tool.
Browsing these pages will answer many of your questions about the relevance and practice of using poetry with others, and a wealth of resources including definitive answers to your training questions, information about approved mentor/supervisors, a frequently updated resource bibliography, links to other relevant sites, and the official 2016 IFBPT Guide to Training in Biblio/Poetry Therapy, available to you as a download. Learn how you might train to bring your passion for poetry into alignment with others in this growing field. Never hesitate to contact us if we can help you better understand the information here.
May your adventures in poetry continue to invite exploration, instill wisdom, heal sorrows, and open ever widening landscapes of your heart.
